Accuracy of Results

Nutritional estimates in CarbCam are generated using a combination of barcode lookups, optical character recognition (OCR), on-device machine learning, and AI language models. These technologies are inherently imperfect and may produce incorrect results.

AI-generated estimates are approximations only. Always verify carbohydrate content against the official Nutrition Facts label on the product packaging.

Third-Party Data Sources

CarbCam retrieves nutritional data from third-party databases and services, including the USDA FoodData Central API and Open Food Facts. This data is provided as-is. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or currency of data sourced from third parties.

AI Data Usage

When you use Advanced AI analysis, food images and text prompts are sent to Google's Gemini API.

Under Google's terms, Google may use your submitted content and responses to improve its products and machine learning technologies. Human reviewers at Google may read and annotate your input and output; Google disconnects this data from your identity before review.

Do not photograph items containing sensitive personal information (e.g. documents, IDs, or prescription labels) when using Advanced AI analysis.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developers of CarbCam accept no liability for any loss, harm, or damages of any kind arising from your use of, or reliance on, information provided by this app. This includes, without limitation, any adverse health outcomes, dietary decisions, or financial loss.
